My cell is up for renewal in January and I want to make the jump to a smartphone. Well, I did some research on the Verizon web site and notice they don’t offer any smartphone on a family plan. What family out there doesn’t e-mail each other now a days?? It’s just silly. Hopefully I can just modify our existing plan and add unlimited data. I checked on the upgrade status and it said I could purchase a phone at full price and I looked on the list of phones and saw a whole list of phones including the Treo’s I am looking at. Anyway, families WANT smarphones….at least some do. Hell even ole Woz himself was going to get a total of 6 iPhones for his family alone! WAKE UP Verizon!

I have started a new podcast called The Incredible Shrinking Geek on podshow. This show will kind of chronicle my weight loss program of sorts as well as provide people with hints on how I got around things like eating out and more. It’s located at:

Anyway, as I want to always have the ability to record this show, I decided to use Ardour as the editor. Ardour runs on Linux and is a full Digital Audio Workstation. It can also record multi tracks as well. It’s a bit complicated but it does work. It uses another program called JackD which is a audio server on steroids. It can handle working in realtime if your kernel supports it. Anyway, take a listen to the show and try Ardour if you want something better then Audacity.

Anyone who has ever flown on Southwest airlines knows that you can check in 24 hours ahead of time and obtain the coveted Group A seating. You see, Southwest does not have assigned seating unlike most airlines. They have three seating groups: A, B and C. After the people who need extra time seating which is usually a small amount, Group A gets to board the plane first and select the seats they want. W00t!
I usually will select seats near the front of the plane and by a window so I can take cool pictures. This also let’s me out of the plane FIRST!

Man it’s over 90 for the first time this summer already and boy is it hot. I hate living in the humidity and heat of Central Ohio. I hope it cools off later.
