Did some googling and found the Release Notes:
- Improved quality of WLAN connections
- Wi-Fi certification included
OK…that works. My WiFi was a bit iffy at home but was ok at work (where there is no WPA….don’t ask!).

I just checked the download site for the Nokia 770 and a new version of the firmware is out. It’s called OS 2006 Edition version 3.2006.49-2. I have loaded it on my 770 and it seems to be a bit zipper. I wish I knew what was fixed, but the release notes have not been posted to the Nokia site yet.
Since I had to rebuild my 770 after the firmware update, I also discover that SpotYah has finally had updates for Python 2.5 which has been available for quite sometime. Check it out here.
I also got Bashpodder working yet again on the 770. Here’s a hint…put the script on your MMC and then all you have to do is install wget and osso-xterm. You don’t need bash. It runs fine under sh. Run it by typing: sh bashpodder.shell at the prompt . You have to do this because your running off of a FAT16 or FAT32 (not sure which…) filesystem and the Unix permisisons just do not exist for sh to check.

It’s FINALLY starting to get cold here in the Central Ohio region. According to accuweather’s forecast fo rnext week, it could get even colder. Heck with all of the brutal cold stuff…where’s the white stuff that can close work??

I was listening to today’s Daily Source Code and Nokia apparantly gave Adam Curry as a gift a new Nokia N800. While Patricia and Christina don’t necessarily like it, Adam does and he says screw the iPhone and let’s do something like this. Build better stuff on Open Source and Apple Inc. will have to open up more.
If you are buried under a rock and have not listened to the Daily Source Code, listen to today’s show and then subscribe!

I was listening to Ken Radio’s World Tech Roundup and co-host Andy Abramson, stated that the Nokia 770 is the biggest and most popular Linux based appliance ever. I wonder if it’s true?
I do know that he was right about CompUSA not being able to keep it in stock. During Christmas, as soon as it was in stock online, it sold out. I guess he’s right.
This post was tapped out on my 770!

Now that Apple’s released em, I am going to post my inital Opinion on each:
Apple iPhone
Sleek Design. Very nice looking. I totally disagree with not including a keypad or a stylus. All of that pressing on the screen is going to leave greasy goobers all over that beautiful screen. PLUS they could have put Inkwell on it and had a Newton reborn. Anyway, the two finger navigation is kind of intresting and we all saw the Demo from TED. That’s almost exactly what this is. Anyway, the network choice is lousy. Cingular sucks. They’d have been better off going with Verizon or Sprint. Only EDGE and WiFi?? Not even HSDPA. If they’d have gone the CDMA route, they’d have EVDO in the handset and then it would be great. Why do you need broadband? Because with 8 gig max, you ain’t going to have a whole lot of Video on it so that means streaming.
Airport Extreme
Nice update. Easy to see why they skipped it. Even though 802.11N isn’t final just yet, it’s going to be soon and you’ll need this to stream highdef to your Apple TV.
Apple TV
A good idea, but I think they’d have been better off with just building it on top of the Mac Mini. The price would have been higher, but then you’d have a bigger hard disk. 40 gig ain’t a whole lot anymore. I’ll probably get one once I get a HDTV. If I can hook it up to my regular old school TV then I’d go for it now.
In another blog, they mentioned this was the greatest keynote ever. While it had some nice products, they are not THAT revolutionary. No 8 core MacPro’s?? Maybe they are coming out later this week….

Apple Inc (now Renamed) has brought out the new Apple TV which is a set top box that allows you to view anything in iTunes on your TV. Movies, Photos and more on your TV. Includes a 40 GB hard disk, HDMI and more. Check out Apple TV.
Either I missed it in the Keynote, or they didn’t think it was a big deal, but Apple also brought out a new Airport Extreme Access Point that supports the new 802.22N draft. Check out Airport Extreme.
Also, in 6 months on Cingular Apple’s iPhone will be released. Available at the Apple Store or Cingular stores, the iPhone is a iPod smushed together with a smart phone and it runs Mac OS X. Check out the iPhone.
Of these, I am more itnrested in the Apple TV box. All of my stuff, music and video will fit on this but one thing….does it support old school TV’s like mine? Might be a few more months until I get a HDTV.
All in all some intresting things. One thing that surprised me a little was that they did not announce new 8 Core MacPros now that the Quad Core part is out from Intel. We’ll see. They will happen.
Oh and Apple, if you want a review, just send me one ‘mkay??

All I want to know is what happened? We deserved to lose. We looked like a High School team playing a college team. I have never seen such a horrible performance. All I want to know is what the hell happened? We should have beat this team. This tells me one thing….we need to schedule more SEC teams in our non Big Ten schedule. Also, it would not surprise me to hear people calling for Tressel’a job. It’s almost as if they did not practice….at all since Michigan. Oh well. See ya next year Buckeyes.
January 9, 2007
Well, I hope I am wrong, but it’s looking like the Buckeyes are going to lose the game. The score is currently 41-14 and it’s the Fourth Quarter. We’re playing sloppy. Florida is dominating the Buckeyes. Troy Smith is looking less like the Heisman winner and more like the one who lost last year. I guess it’s remorely possible that they can pop back but I think this is it. Thanks Jim Tressel for a great season. When we were pre-season number 1 and ran through the whole season, it had to be a omen….a bad one.
Now, in my opinion, if we do indeed lose and it’s looking that way, then Boise State SHOULD be number 1. In a really weird College Football season, this really brings outhow horrible the BCS is. Anyone want a Playoff system? I sure do.
